Those who have had ever grown tomatoes are probably aware of the fact how organic and fresh tomatoes taste like. The same is with the homegrown, freshly picked potatoes. They have the nutty and sweet flavor that you will never find in the potatoes in the store. All you need are bags, laundry baskets or pots and soil, and you will have fresh and healthy potatoes.

  • Grow potatoes in laundry baskets

The truth is that this process isn’t going to yield the same as potatoes grown in regular garden, but this method works really well. You will need to fill the baskets with about 2″ of soil and compost, put a seed potato and then cover the potato with soil. Water the potatoes regularly. Each basket can yield 8-9 lbs of potatoes and I need also to mention that the potatoes are growing out of the holes of the baskets.

  • Grow potatoes in bags

You can grow fresh potatoes in old bags too. All you need to do is to create some drain holes as reusable grocery store bags are water tight and you don’t want your veggies to be waterlogged. This is a space-saving solution and fun family project.

Grow potatoes in pots

If you are short of space, then you can grow veggies in containers. Whether you own a small terrace, patio, garden or balcony, you can still grow everything you want. If you want to grow healthy potatoes at home, should choose a location that is sunny and receives at least six hours of sunlight daily. Choose light soils that are rich in organic matter instead of light soils. When growing potatoes in pots, regular watering is essential. The soil need to be moist, but not wet.

Grow potatoes in towers

You can make towers as well and grow veggies. Many gardeners choose this idea because is a space-saving option, looks aesthetically beautiful, prevent weeds getting into the tower and prevent the potatoes from growing in the ground.
