When choosing the lighting for a certain room, include a few types. One light source is not enough for a room. Include lighting fixtures and lamps to achieve a romantic atmosphere.

Ignoring proportion

This is a very common mistake that is done. First consider the size of the space you will work with. Large space will feel “heavy” with lots of small items. And small spaces will look even smaller and tighter with enormous items. Always consider the size of the items and proportions. For example, open plan homes should have a large painting instead of small.

Repetitive pattern

We know that everything must match, but a same pattern all over the room is so last century. Go for patterns and fabrics that are not the exact same, but rather coordinate. The modern approach is to mix different fabrics in a proper way.

Too small rugs

Area rugs can bring warmth, as well as act as anchors in a certain space. But, too small rugs can look like they simply don’t belong there. If you don’t want wall to wall carpets, then go for area rugs that aren’t too small  in size.

Too much furnishing

Having too much furniture will make the space look heavy and cramped. Do not fill the space with furniture. Go for functionality and aesthetics. having too much will shrink the size of the room. You will barely move around.
